What will Mindy do as a Children's Champion? My goodness, what are she and East Hartford NOT doing? Here's a sample of her actions for young children:
Host a community forum in October with local residents and agencies to assess community needs,
Initiated and manage the East Hartford Kindergarten Transition Committee to help preschool children experience a smooth and successful transition into kindergarten,
Started a "growing readers" backpack literacy program for preschool children and their families,
Work with school based health centers to provide dental screenings, health services, and social work services for families utilizing child care programs in East Hartford.
