This event, attended by nearly 100 people, was the first of a two day series of forums entitled "Economic Development Through Early Childhood Investment" and featured Art Rolnick, director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and Ready Rabbit was enjoyed this opportunity to hop out to North Haven. Mr. Rolnick co-authored a report naming early childhood development as the single most important means of successful economic development available to towns and states.

The event was held at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Anthony Rescigno, president of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce served as master of ceremonies. SDE Commissioner Betty Sternberg and New Haven Mayor John DeStefano set the context for the event and Janice Gruendel, co-president of Connecticut Voices for Children, moderated a distinguished response panel. The panel included Laura Berry, vice president for development at the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven; Robert Mantilia, vice president of JPMorgan Chase; and Carol Shoemaker, chairperson of the education committee for the Greater Hartford Interfaith Coalition for Equity and Justice.
