	There are just over 220,000 children in CT under the age of five. Nearly 12,000 live in extreme poverty (less than 50% of the Federal Poverty Level).

Quality Pre-Kindergarten for All: State Legislative Report

This report by the Trust for Early Education found that 15 states, including Connecticut, increased their spending for pre-kindergarten services by $205 million over the past year. Connecticut increased funding to both its School Readiness Program and its Care4Kids child subsidy program.
