What will Mindy do as a Children's Champion? My goodness, what are she and East Hartford NOT doing? Here's a sample of her actions for young children:

  • Host a community forum in October with local residents and agencies to assess community needs,
  • Initiated and manage the East Hartford Kindergarten Transition Committee to help preschool children experience a smooth and successful transition into kindergarten,
  • Started a "growing readers" backpack literacy program for preschool children and their families,
  • Work with school based health centers to provide dental screenings, health services, and social work services for families utilizing child care programs in East Hartford.
