Concept

As a very public part of Ready, Set, Grow…CT Kids!, [1] WTNH News Channel 8 and [2] Connecticut Voices for Children joined the [3] Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the [4] Connecticut Children's Museum, and the New Haven School Readiness Council to launch a multi-year television project called “The ABC’s of School Readiness”.

The ABCs of School Readiness focuses on what adults should know about helping children get to the kindergarten door “ready”. Through a series of :30 second television spots, each letter of the alphabet is creatively related to early childhood research and development.

Voices provided the initial funding for the project, through a grant from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, and sponsorships are still available. If you are interested in further information about the ABCs of School Readiness, please contact [5] info@readysetgrowctkids.org.

[8] Did you know that building with blocks is the beginning of your child’s math education? There are building materials everywhere…encourage your child to build with them.

B is for BUILD.

It is natural for children to want to build.
Building helps children think.
Building helps children solve problems.
Building helps children learn to plan.
Building builds math skills – encourage your child to build!

"Did you know that Connecticut children miss thousands of hours of school each year due to tooth decay?"

T is for Teeth

Dental disease is the most common chronic disease in children.
Help children do their best in school by taking them to a dentist.

Sadly, many families have a hard time finding dentists they can afford.
Regardless of race, age or background -- all children deserve dental care.
