Published in the Fed Gazette, two economists from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Arthur Rolnick and Rob Grunewald, review the benefit-cost and return on investment data from quality early childhood programs. They argue that such programs provide a better return than such strategies as building stadiums, and that early childhood investment should be a part of a state’s economic development toolkit.
